Bio Luis Lobato de Faria

- I have a Degree in History - Cultural Heritage from the University of Évora and a Post Graduation in Archeology and Prehistory from the University of Lisbon.
- I began my career in 1998 with archaeological excavations at the Alqueva Dam Project. I’ve participated in more than 100 projects linked to Heritage in Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
- Since 2011 I’ve been living in Aldeia da Venda in Alandroal (Alentejo-Portugal).
- Between 2012 and 2016 I was President of the Association “Projeto Raia Alentejana” with the aim of building a link between Heritage and Tourism. To this end the Association carried out 170 cultural activities in 15 Municipalities of Portugal and Spain: cultural walks, guided tours, presentations on various topics, cleansing of monuments, construction of 70 routes and survey of hundreds of monuments with the purpose of building a regional Portal.
- In 2016 I built two Pedestrian Routes for the Municipality of Alandroal.
- Between 2016 and 2020 I was the Manager of the BB of “Monte da Fonte Santa” an Alentejo traditional farm with animals.
- Today I’ve experienced more than 1400 activities with various companies. Two of them are the Hotel São Lourenço do Barrocal and Backroads Active Adventure Travel.
- I’m a local guide who combines the knowledge of History, Heritage and Archaeology with the experience of living in a small village of Alentejo. I know local products and producers, arts and crafts, traditions and annual rhythms. I have a small olive grove where I produce olive oil. I’m studying various aspects of Popular Religion, Historical Graffiti and Heritage. These studies are sponsored by the activities in Tourism. I´m also trying to write a book about "Sacred Landscapes".
